TechNExt is back for 2024 and we are proud to be supporting the event again as sponsors of the Schools Challenge.
Starting on the 17th June, TechNExt is the festival for the North East's tech ambitions, attracting over 3,000 attendees from across the UK and beyond.
A 'Good' Festival
Now in its second year, the festival is planned as a Good Festival, with 'for good' being a core value of the activities planned throughout the week. This ambition focuses on quality, inclusivity, diversity, accessibility, and sustainability, encouraging all people and organisations to get involved and be part of it - something we're always passionate about supporting.
It's a vibrant amalgamation of curated showcases and community-led fringe events, emphasising the North East's passionate pursuit of growth in the tech sector. As part of the festival, TechNExt are running the Schools Challenge, which stands out as a fantastic opportunity for young minds to dive into the world of technology.
Our Commitment
With volunteers from our digital teams already running after school Coding Clubs at schools across the region, we felt that supporting the Schools Challenge was the perfect fit. The challenge aligns with the Newcastle Building Society group Purpose, part of which is to foster positive change within our communities.
Manila McLean, Chief Information Officer at Newcastle Strategic Solutions explains: "By focusing on inclusivity and diversity, the initiative aims to inspire students aged 8-13 from all walks of life to embrace a future in technology. This engagement is more than just an event; it's a promise to broaden horizons and establish lasting links between the tech sector, educational institutions, and local authorities - something we're proud to help with.

As we gear up for a week of celebrating tech this June, this is more than just a sponsorship for us.
